Valerie is a board certified Neurological Clinical Specialist and an Associate Clinical Professor and ACCE in the Physical Therapy Department at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff AZ. She graduated from NAU with her Bachelors of Science in Physical Therapy in 1989 and received her Doctorate in PT 2002. Presently she instructs entry level DPT students in neuroscience, pediatrics, neuro therapeutic techniques and coordinates the Neurological Clinical opportunities at NAU. Her research interests are in the clinic with the application of neuroplasticity techniques for individuals with non progressive and neurodegenerative brain injuries. She and her husband own and operate Carter Rehabilitation an outpatient physical therapy clinic specializing in the recovery of patients with Neurological and Orthopedic injuries. She has a passion for working with persons with Parkinsons Disease and is dedicated to helping them to change their lives and reach their full potential. She has been teaching nationally and internationally on this topic since 2005. She was an instructor for LSVT BIG and is now an instructor/consultant for PWR! (PWR! 4life.org) with Dr. Becky Farley. Her dream is to train as many clinicians and exercise professionals as possible to spread the Exercise4BrainChange™ word to every person with PD.
